Why Thumbnails Matter

A compelling video thumbnail is the single best strategy to maximize the number of clicks and views your video gets online. Choose wisely!
 
The thumbnail needs to be eye-catching and representative. It must show the potential viewer what they can expect from your video. It also needs to be of interest, relevant and high quality. A sense of urgency helps, too. Consider the fundamentals of composition that make for a good photo and you're off to a great start.
 
Make sure that your thumbnail is centered and clearly visible. If you have a presenter or a product, this might be a good idea for the central image of the thumbnail.
 
Lastly, spend a few minutes searching You Tube or other video sharing sites. What thumbnails jump out at you? What works and what doesn't? Do a little free research and learn from those examples!

JUST PRESS PLAY - The Roller Coaster Principle

There is a natural law called the roller coaster principle. It occurs in business and our personal lives. It says that after we have worked hard to achieve success in an area of life and we start to reap the rewards of this hard work, we have a natural tendency to slack off, to reduce those efforts that brought us success in the first place.
The moral of the story is that consistent efforts generally yield consistent results, especially when reality has demonstrated that those efforts generate proven success. Of course we have to innovate and not get stuck relying on the same strategies and tactics year after year, as life rarely operates on automatic pilot. We're always either moving forward or backward in life. If you're experiencing difficulty keeping momentum going or figuring out how to innovate, there are many ways to do that.
