To be successful, every business deals with the
following five areas:
1. Marketing - How do we get more leads, better leads and stronger leads?
2. Pre-sales – How do we take that lead once someone shows interest in our product or services and move them through the process?
3. Sales – Closing the leads. Can we convert interest into a sale?
4. Servicing – Delivering what we say we're going to deliver in a quality fashion and that will create loyalty, referrals and repeat business.
5. Creating a Client for Life – After we close the sale and do our servicing, it's the 'over and above the call' that counts. Are we building ongoing relationships? Are we doing surveys? Do we call the client to see what they think about our work? Can we make a referral that will help them?
All five areas are essential to building a strong, viable business. And they must all work well. If four of the five areas have the potential to make us a million dollars, and the fifth one can only make us a half million, our company will only make a half million.
Since we can only be as strong as our weakest link, our business can only be as strong as the weakest of the five areas.
The lesson to be learned here is to be aware of these areas of business, examine how (or if) you are implementing them and systematically address the weakest area(s) first and work yourself up the ladder until your company is running like a fine tuned engine. Easier said than done and it's an endless task, but one worth doing.
Let us know if we can help you in any of these areas.
